Dinesh

Something of a new look for TTLTT.com for the weekend — my friend Dinesh let me take some shots of him wearing his new customised West Indies cricket shirt (no comments on his choice of number). He's a die-hard supporter of the team. And if you know anything about West Indies cricket, you'll know just how many hard deaths that's meant of late.

For the technically-minded, this was taken with a regular wall-mounted tungsten lightbulb and an on-camera 580EX flash bounced off the same wall. And of course, the requisite post-processing to convert to black and white.

As this is a new area of focus for me I'm very interested in comments and feedback on this photo, and the one I'll post tomorrow.

I like the portrait, and his unconventional pose, even though a more direct gaze towards the camera (the viewer) would have been more engaging. One thing, though: when using a flash put the model farther away from the baskground, so that you can avoid his shadow.
