Cirrocumulus
May 20, 2004
I composed this photo with the breadfruit tree in the lower left corner so that it would serve as an anchor for the photo. I like the radial effect created by this, with the clouds seemingly streaming outward from that point.
I admit, this cloud gave me some problems to identify. My geography background immediately suggested Cirro-something to me, but when I started looking it up the closest match seemed to be altocumulus. This statement was the decider for me, however — Typically a portion of an altocumulus cloud is shaded, a characteristic which makes them distinguishable from the high-level cirrocumulus.
Anyone not in agreement with my cloud identification skills?

My cloud identification skills are rather inexistent so I won't even try to challenge you on that issue. :)
