Petrichor - the scent of rain. This was the A.Word.A.Day word for April 2nd, 2004.
Must have been coincidence that just a couple weeks after learning this word I saw this scene that evoked not just the scent, but the unbridled assault on all the senses as nature awakens in anticipation of the impending storm.
