The Latecomers' Entrance

This entrance to the Santa Rosa Roman Catholic church in Arima is set off to the side of the main entrance, and opens onto one of the side wings of the church. Perhaps because its location places it out of direct sight of the priest at the altar, it would often be used by latecomers, among whose numbers we regularly ranked, to gain quiet, discreet entrance to the church.

I'm not sure what it is I like about this photo, I think it's the muted colours and dim late evening light. Or maybe it's memories of those Sunday evenings, slipping into church midway through mass because, yet again, we forgot that the service started at 6pm and not 6:30pm.
