Up close the church in St. Joseph is quite an imposing structure. Standing there at the top of the stairs leading up from the road below, looking up at the arched entryway you feel the weight of history bearing down on you. You can almost tell that you're in a place of historical importance.

No airy towers or finely wrought ironwork here. The stone walls are thick and imposing, the heavy brickwork solid and seemingly able to stand for another 200 years.
