President's House

President's House

I recently had an opportunity to visit the President's House, located just north of the Queen's Park Savannah in St. Ann's. This structure, constructed in 1876, has served as the residence of the Governors, Governors-General and Presidents of Trinidad for over 100 years, and was also, briefly, the National Museum & Art Gallery.

The building is magnificent, certainly one of the most striking buildings in Trinidad, though it is currently undergoing repairs and renovations.

This photo, taken from the gardens, shows the original limestone facade and incorporates the balustrade separating the house from the gardens.
