Oxford Street House
August 26, 2005
Port of Spain really is a city of old and new, and this is another classic example of the old. Dozens of these old, run-down houses can be found in uptown Port of Spain, where the tendrils of commercialism haven't completely taken hold. This one on Oxford Street attracted me with the checkerboard effect of the boarded up windows and doors.
Oxford Street is just two streets south of Gordon Street, where I took photos of this old house earlier this year. When I went by today, the house was totally demolished and all traces removed. I won't be surprised if there is a boring new concrete box in its place by year's end.

Great tones in this shot. :-)
The price of progress unfortunately sometimes is the lobotomy of our history (and soul).
