Garret Window

Garret Window

I think this bit of architecture is referred to as a garret window — a garret being “a room on the top floor of a house, typically under a pitched roof”. This one is from a dilapidated house in downtown Port of Spain. Dilapidated, but not abandoned. Somewhat amusingly, part of the building is being used as a showroom and storefront for a small furniture manufacturer. Wonder if he might eventually put his woodworking skills to use repairing the building.

I love how the photo is so dark and gloomy with the contrast of the clouds behind which causes the roof to show up even more. Good job.
